Midnight, I check my email & notice an e-mail from the Staples Center. I quickly open it up. It states “CONGRATULATIONS YOU WERE SELECTED TO ATTEND MICHAEL JACKSON’S MEMORIAL. WHAT??? Wow I still can’t believe it. Out of 1.6 Million people we were selected. We went to the UCLA Medical Center the night we all heard the news. HOWEVER: I also understand that the family wanted this to be a “celebration” of his life. Many people want their funerals to be “parties” rather than “wakes”. So who is it to say that someone CAN’T be happy to go? After all, the family has set it up in such a way that it is more of a “concert” or an event than an actual funeral/memorial. And that is THEIR RIGHT! I wish I could have gone, because I truly felt an affinity with Michael. I am very saddened that he passed.

I agree. I’ll put it this way: a friend of mine died when I was in high school. It was a very small town, and almost everyone had met him. However, he was born with birth defects, and there were some who were cruel to him. The day of his funeral, I noticed that several people who were mean to him came to his funeral-so they could get out of school! If I were the Jackson family, I would be upset that people are so happy about going.
